Independent agencies, brokerages and IMOs
Agencies usually come to us with an agency management system that holds the policies and a CRM nobody trusts. IMOs come with a downline that lives in spreadsheets and commission statements that take days to reconcile. Both need one view of the producer, the client and the book, with the policy system still in charge of the policy.
Short answer
Vantage Point implements and supports Salesforce for independent agencies, brokerages and insurance marketing organizations (IMOs), with producer hierarchies, commissions, renewals and agency management system data built into the org. We have delivered Applied Epic integrations that sync policy and sales-goal data into Salesforce, and our insurance work spans carriers, IMOs, agencies and TPAs.
| Independent agencies and brokerages | IMOs and distribution organizations | |
|---|---|---|
| System of record | Agency management system (for example Applied Epic) for policies, carriers and accounting | Carrier and contracting data, often spread across carrier portals and spreadsheets |
| Who the CRM serves | Producers, account managers and service teams | Agents and sub-agents in the downline, plus internal marketing and contracting staff |
| Core objects | Clients, policies, lines of business, renewal dates, opportunities | Agents, hierarchy levels, contracts and appointments, carrier production |
| Money | Cross-sell, renewals and producer goals | Commissions, overrides, bonuses and chargebacks across the hierarchy |
| Marketing | Renewal reminders, cross-sell campaigns, referral programs | Agent recruiting, carrier product launches, events and incentive trips |
| Compliance | Licensing, communication records, complaint logs | State licensing and appointment tracking for every agent in the downline |
Most agencies run well on Sales Cloud. Agencies and IMOs that manage households, financial accounts or life and annuity products often fit Financial Services Cloud better. We'll tell you which one your work needs before you buy licenses.
Applied Epic stays the system of record for policies. Salesforce handles pipeline, cross-sell, service and marketing. We have delivered Applied Epic integrations for an agency we support under managed services, syncing policy and sales-goal data into Salesforce so producers see their book and their targets without leaving the CRM. The Applied Epic integration page shows what syncs and how the data flows.

When an integration is new to us, we say so in the scope and price the discovery work separately.
Commission work is where insurance CRM projects get hard. Rates differ by carrier and product, and overrides roll up through several levels of the hierarchy before anyone sees a statement.
National call-center life insurer. We replaced a homegrown CRM with Salesforce, unified three call centers and built a commission engine with carrier-specific rates, hierarchical downline tracking (including the firm's independent agent organization) and chargeback modeling. The monthly close went from 10 days to 5, and the platform connects 12+ systems. Read the case study.
Before cutover, the team ran full months of live data through the new engine alongside the old calculations to prove the numbers matched. The same pattern applies to IMOs: model the hierarchy once, keep carrier rates in data your operations team can maintain, and run old and new calculations side by side before anyone gets paid from the new one.
Regional insurance brokerage. The brokerage came to us after three failed CRM rollouts. We built its consultant-based sales method into the page layouts and dashboards, then replaced its marketing platform with Account Engagement. It reached a 100% login rate at go-live. Read the case study.
The lesson we take into every agency project: producers use a CRM that reflects how they already sell, and leadership has to hold everyone to it from day one.

Yes, with a custom commission model. Salesforce can hold carrier-specific rates, multi-level overrides, bonuses and chargebacks, and roll them up through the downline. For a national call-center life insurer, we built a commission engine in Salesforce that cut the monthly close from 10 days to 5.
Most property and casualty agencies run well on Sales Cloud with policy data synced from their agency management system. A Sales Cloud foundation for one sales process goes live in 3 to 4 weeks. Larger agency and IMO builds with commissions, hierarchies and an agency management system integration usually take 8 to 16 weeks, depending on the number of carriers, divisions and integrations.
Yes. Salesforce can track each agent's state licenses, expiry dates and carrier appointments, alert staff before a license or appointment lapses, and report on the whole downline. IMOs often connect this to contracting workflows so a new agent can't be marked active until the paperwork is complete.
Yes. Several of our insurance clients use our managed services, which include a named senior account lead, monthly health checks, release management and a 2-hour P1 response. Plans start at $5,850 a month for Salesforce.
