Salesforce Q2 FY27 Earnings: What It Means for CRM Teams

Salesforce reported its Q2 FY27 results on August 26, 2026, covering the quarter ended July 31, 2026 — and by the company's own account, it was a record quarter. Revenue reached $11.3 billion, up 11% year over year, current remaining performance obligation (cRPO) accelerated to 14% growth, and combined Agentforce and Data 360 ARR approached $3.9 billion, up 210%.

This post is not investment analysis. It is a practitioner read on what Salesforce's Q2 FY27 earnings signal about the platform roadmap — agentic AI, the data foundation, and a wave of acquisitions — and what CRM teams should do about it. All figures come from Salesforce's official Q2 FY27 earnings press release and quarterly investor deck, available on Salesforce's investor relations site.

If you follow this series, our Q1 FY27 earnings analysis covered the emergence of the agentic enterprise story. Q2 is when that story became a measurable revenue line.

Quick Answer

What happened: Salesforce's Q2 FY27 (quarter ended July 31, 2026) delivered record revenue of $11.3 billion (+11% Y/Y), cRPO of $33.5 billion (+14% Y/Y, an acceleration), and combined Agentforce and Data 360 ARR of nearly $3.9 billion (+210% Y/Y), per the official earnings release.

Who it matters for: Salesforce customers, CRM leaders, admins, and RevOps teams deciding when and how to adopt agentic AI and Data 360 — especially regulated organizations that need governed rollouts.

What to do with it: Treat agentic AI as a production capability, not a pilot. Prioritize data readiness, select one or two governed use cases, and time planning around Dreamforce (Investor Day is September 16, 2026).

Why Vantage Point is relevant: Vantage Point is a Salesforce Solutions Partner helping organizations turn platform shifts into adopted capabilities through Salesforce implementation and advisory and Agentforce consulting.

TL;DR

  • Record quarter: Revenue of $11.3B (+11% Y/Y), cRPO of $33.5B (+14% Y/Y, accelerating), and a 34.1% non-GAAP operating margin.
  • Agentic AI is real revenue: Agentforce and Data 360 ARR hit nearly $3.9B (+210% Y/Y); 7.0 billion Agentic Work Units delivered to date, 3.2 billion in Q2 alone.
  • Reporting change: Agentforce ARR now includes Slackbot and Headless 360 — one agentic platform, not separate products.
  • Data foundation confirmed: Data 360 ingested 104 trillion records in Q2 (+355% Y/Y); Zero Copy volume up 731%.
  • Consolidation continues: Informatica contributed $456M in Q2; the Contentful and Fin acquisitions close in the coming weeks.
  • How Vantage Point helps: We help teams build the data foundation and governed agentic workflows through Data Cloud services and Agentforce implementation.

What Happened in Salesforce's Q2 FY27?

Salesforce's Q2 FY27 covered the quarter ended July 31, 2026, announced August 26, 2026. Per the official press release and investor deck:

Metric Q2 FY27 result Year-over-year change
Revenue $11.3B +11% (and in constant currency)
Subscription and support revenue $10.8B +12% (+11% CC)
Current RPO (cRPO) $33.5B +14% (an acceleration)
Total RPO $66.3B +11%
GAAP operating margin 20.5%
Non-GAAP operating margin 34.1%
GAAP diluted EPS $4.29 +119%
Non-GAAP diluted EPS $5.90 +103%
Operating cash flow $1.3B +71%
Free cash flow $1.1B +81%

Revenue includes a $456 million contribution from Informatica. Salesforce also paid $364 million in dividends and continued executing against a $25 billion accelerated share repurchase, with final settlement expected in October 2026.

For customers, the two numbers that matter most are cRPO acceleration and the agentic AI ARR line.

Is Agentic AI a Real Revenue Line Now?

Yes — and that is the story of the quarter. Combined Agentforce and Data 360 ARR reached nearly $3.9 billion, up 210% year over year, with CEO Marc Benioff noting the business is "about to cross $4 billion." Broken out:

  • Agentforce ARR exceeded $1.5 billion, up 240% year over year.
  • Data 360 ARR reached $2.4 billion, up 200% year over year (including $1.1 billion of Informatica Cloud ARR).
  • 7.0 billion Agentic Work Units (AWUs) have been delivered to date across Agentforce and Slack — 3.2 billion in Q2 alone, up 97% quarter over quarter.
  • Bookings from the premium Agentforce One Edition and Agentforce for Apps SKUs more than doubled quarter over quarter.

The practitioner takeaway: agentic workflows are running in production at scale. If your team still treats agentic AI as an experiment to revisit next year, you are behind the adoption curve — other organizations are accumulating the operational experience and governance patterns that compound over time.

What Does cRPO Acceleration Tell Us About the Platform?

Current remaining performance obligation — contracted business expected to be recognized as revenue over the next 12 months — grew 14% year over year to $33.5 billion, an acceleration. Total RPO reached $66.3 billion, up 11%.

For customers, cRPO acceleration means enterprises are signing bigger, longer commitments to the platform. That directly counters the "SaaSpocalypse" narrative — the idea that standalone AI tools will displace core SaaS systems of record. Benioff addressed the question on the earnings call, and the same day Salesforce announced its Claudeforce partnership with Anthropic, covered in our companion post on the Salesforce-Anthropic Claudeforce partnership. The evidence points the other way: AI is expanding the platform's footprint, not replacing it.

CFO Robin Washington added that "NNAOV growth is the strongest it's been in four years, keeping us on track for second-half organic revenue reacceleration." Net-new annual order value growth at that level means new customer commitments, not just renewals.

Why Did Salesforce Change How It Reports Agentforce ARR?

Effective Q2 FY27, Agentforce ARR now includes Slackbot and Headless 360, and Salesforce said it will move to milestone-based reporting going forward. This is more than an accounting footnote.

Folding Slackbot and Headless 360 into Agentforce ARR signals that Salesforce views these as one agentic platform, not separate products. Slack is the conversational surface, Headless 360 is the API-first delivery layer, and Agentforce is the agent engine — one stack, one revenue line. If you have been evaluating these as independent purchase decisions, revisit that framing. Our Headless 360 architecture and readiness guide explains the headless model in detail.

The Slack numbers support the integration story: Slack posted its fastest quarterly NNAOV growth since the acquisition, and Slackbot users grew 150% quarter over quarter.

What Does Data 360's Growth Say About the Data Foundation?

Data 360's quarter confirms what we tell every client: the data foundation is the prerequisite for agentic AI. Per the investor deck, in Q2 Data 360:

  • Ingested 104 trillion records, up 355% year over year
  • Ingested 82 trillion records via Zero Copy integrations, up 731% year over year
  • Processed 22TB of unstructured data

The Zero Copy figure deserves attention. A 731% increase means organizations are connecting data where it lives — in warehouses such as Snowflake, Databricks, and BigQuery — instead of moving it. That shortens time-to-value for agentic use cases and reduces governance risk, which matters enormously in regulated industries.

The subscription and support disaggregation tells the same story: Agentforce Apps revenue was $7.2 billion (+8% Y/Y), while the Data 360, Headless Platform, and Other segment grew 20% to $3.6 billion. The data and platform layer is growing more than twice as fast as the application layer. If your data foundation is not ready, that is the first gap to close — our Data Cloud consulting services focus on exactly that work.

What Do the Informatica, Contentful, and Fin Deals Mean for Customers?

Platform consolidation is accelerating. Informatica is already contributing — $456 million of Q2 revenue — and Salesforce expects the Contentful and Fin acquisitions to close independently "in the coming weeks," during Q3 FY27. Both are incorporated into guidance except cRPO.

For customers, expect deeper data-management, content, and AI agent capabilities to arrive natively rather than through third-party integrations. Practically:

  • Data quality, cataloging, and master data management capabilities from Informatica will increasingly underpin Data 360.
  • Contentful points to structured content feeding agentic experiences.
  • Fin, an AI agent for customer service, suggests continued investment in service automation.

If you hold contracts with overlapping tools, watch for consolidation opportunities at renewal.

What Guidance Did Salesforce Give for FY27?

Salesforce raised FY27 revenue guidance to $46.1–46.4 billion (+11–12% Y/Y), a $200 million raise ($300 million in constant currency): $100 million organic improvement plus $200 million from the pending Contentful and Fin acquisitions, offset by a $100 million FX headwind.

Other guidance details:

  • Q3 FY27 revenue: $11.42–11.5 billion (+11–12% Y/Y, including slightly above four points from Informatica)
  • Q3 cRPO growth: approximately 14% Y/Y and in constant currency (excludes Contentful and Fin)
  • FY27 GAAP operating margin: updated to 20.1% (from 20.6%), with non-GAAP held at 34.3%

Two dates for your calendar: a Product Adoption and Momentum webinar on September 1, 2026, and Investor Day at Dreamforce on September 16, 2026. Dreamforce is weeks away, and Q2's numbers set up the agentic enterprise as the centerpiece.

What Should CRM Teams Do Now?

Earnings posts are only useful if they change what you do next. Our recommended checklist:

  1. Assess data readiness first. Agentforce outcomes are bounded by data quality. Audit your object model, duplicate rates, and which external data should connect via Zero Copy.
  2. Select one or two agentic use cases for production. Pick bounded, high-volume workflows — service triage, meeting follow-up, internal knowledge retrieval — where you can measure consumption and outcomes.
  3. Stand up governance before scale. Define who can deploy agents, what data they can touch, human-in-the-loop thresholds, and audit logging. Regulated industries should treat this as non-negotiable.
  4. Reframe Slack and Headless 360 as one platform decision. The ARR reporting change reflects how Salesforce will sell and bundle going forward.
  5. Plan around Dreamforce. The September 1 webinar and September 16 Investor Day will detail the roadmap these earnings fund. Brief stakeholders before the announcements, not after.
  6. Review overlapping vendor contracts. With Informatica integrated and Contentful and Fin closing, native capabilities may replace point solutions at renewal.

Frequently Asked Questions

What were Salesforce's Q2 FY27 earnings results?

Salesforce reported Q2 FY27 revenue of $11.3 billion, up 11% year over year, for the quarter ended July 31, 2026. Current RPO grew 14% to $33.5 billion, non-GAAP operating margin was 34.1%, and non-GAAP diluted EPS was $5.90, per the official earnings release.

What is Agentforce ARR, and why did it change this quarter?

Agentforce ARR is the annualized recurring revenue from Salesforce's agentic AI products; it exceeded $1.5 billion in Q2 FY27, up 240% year over year. Effective this quarter, the metric includes Slackbot and Headless 360, and Salesforce will move to milestone-based reporting — signaling one agentic platform.

What is cRPO, and why does 14% growth matter?

Current remaining performance obligation (cRPO) is contracted business Salesforce expects to recognize as revenue over the next 12 months. Growth of 14% — an acceleration — means enterprises are signing bigger, longer platform commitments, evidence that AI is expanding the platform rather than displacing it.

How fast is Data 360 growing?

Data 360 ARR reached $2.4 billion in Q2 FY27, up 200% year over year, including $1.1 billion of Informatica Cloud ARR. The platform ingested 104 trillion records in the quarter (+355%), with Zero Copy ingestion up 731% — customers are connecting data where it lives.

When do the Contentful and Fin acquisitions close?

Salesforce expects the Contentful and Fin acquisitions to close independently "in the coming weeks," during Q3 FY27. Both are incorporated into FY27 revenue guidance but excluded from Q3 cRPO guidance.

Does Q2 FY27 mean AI is replacing Salesforce's core CRM business?

No. The results point the opposite way: cRPO growth accelerated to 14%, Slack posted its fastest NNAOV growth since the acquisition, and management said NNAOV growth is the strongest in four years. AI is being sold on top of — and expanding — the core platform.

How can Vantage Point help our team act on these announcements?

Vantage Point helps organizations assess data readiness, select and govern agentic AI use cases, and implement Agentforce and Data 360. As a senior-led Salesforce Solutions Partner, we translate platform shifts like Q2 FY27's into practical rollout plans.
