Agentforce

Short answer

Agentforce is Salesforce's platform for building and running autonomous AI agents inside Salesforce. Agents use a reasoning engine to decide which actions to take, are grounded in your CRM and Data 360 data, and operate within the permissions and guardrails you set, handling work such as service cases, lead follow-up and internal requests.

Agentforce explained

An Agentforce agent is configured with topics (the jobs it can do), instructions, and actions such as Flows, Apex, prompt templates and API calls. When a customer or employee asks for something, the reasoning engine chooses the right topic and actions, retrieves the data it needs, and either completes the task or hands off to a person. Agents can work in chat, messaging, email, Slack and inside Salesforce records.

Agentforce runs on top of the Einstein Trust Layer, which handles data masking, zero data retention with model providers, and audit logging. Salesforce markets the wider suite as Agentforce 360.

How Vantage Point helps: we scope, build and test Agentforce agents for regulated firms, starting with a narrow, measurable use case and the data and permission work that makes an agent safe to switch on.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between Agentforce and a chatbot?

A traditional chatbot follows scripted decision trees. An Agentforce agent reasons about the request, chooses from the actions you have given it, and can take real steps in Salesforce, such as updating a case or booking a meeting, within its permissions.

Does Agentforce need Data 360?

Not for every use case, but agents are only as good as the data they can reach. Many deployments use Data 360 to unify data from systems outside Salesforce so the agent has a complete picture.
