CRM Data Migration

Short answer

CRM data migration is the process of moving records, history and files from one CRM or system into another, such as from Redtail, Wealthbox or Epic into Salesforce, or from Salesforce into HubSpot. A good migration cleans and remaps data so the new system starts accurate.

CRM Data Migration explained

A migration usually runs in stages: inventory the source data, decide what moves and what is archived, map objects and fields to the new data model, clean and deduplicate, run test loads into a sandbox, validate with users, then cut over with a final delta load. Activity history, notes, attachments and relationships such as households are where most of the effort goes.

Migrations fail when they are treated as a copy job instead of a chance to fix data and process.

How Vantage Point helps: we have migrated firms from Redtail, Wealthbox, Epic, Salesforce, HubSpot and spreadsheets, with reconciliation reports that prove every record landed.

Frequently asked questions

How long does a CRM migration take?

Small, clean migrations can take a few weeks. Larger ones with years of history, attachments and complex relationships often take two to three months including testing.

Should we migrate all our old data?

Not always. Many firms move active records and recent history and archive the rest in a searchable form.
