Slack's spring 2026 release cycle has been one of the most substantial in recent memory. Between the March Feature Drop, the TDX 2026 announcements, and the ongoing platform evolution toward agentic AI, Slack admins have a lot to digest — and several time-sensitive action items to address.
This comprehensive admin update covers 22 changes organized into three sections: what's live now, what's coming soon, and what's going away. We've included admin action items, licensing requirements, and direct links to official resources for every feature.
If you're managing Slack across your organization — especially alongside Salesforce — this is your single reference for April 2026.

This is the headline feature of spring 2026. Slack CRM transforms Slackbot into a lightweight, conversational CRM system included at no additional cost with Slack Business+ plans.
What it does:
The Salesforce connection: Every contact and update created through Slack CRM is connected to Salesforce in the background. Organizations can start simple with conversational CRM and scale into full Salesforce when ready — no data migration required.

A quality-of-life improvement many users have requested: you can now add, remove, or reorder file attachments — including images, videos, documents, and canvases — on messages you've already sent.
Available on: Pro, Business+, Enterprise plans
Users can now save effective AI prompts and share them via a shareable link. When the link is posted in a channel, it unfurls into a prompt card with a "Run with Slackbot" button, allowing teammates to execute the prompt in one click.
Why it matters for admins: This feature promotes prompt standardization across teams, reduces the learning curve for AI adoption, and helps establish best practices for Slackbot usage.

Gmail and Outlook are now connected to Slack Enterprise Search. Email results surface alongside Slack content in search results, AI-generated answers, and Slackbot queries.
Key improvements:
Available on: Enterprise+ plans only
Admin Action Items:
Permissioned users can now reassign ownership of Salesforce leads, cases, or opportunities directly within Slack — on both desktop and mobile. The new owner can be instantly notified of the handoff.
Why it matters: This eliminates the need to switch to Salesforce for routine record reassignments, keeping teams in their flow of work.
Admins can now use any Salesforce record field — including formula fields — to define channel naming conventions. This improves discoverability and helps keep sensitive data out of channel names.
Users can also be given the ability to manually rename channels for additional flexibility.
Admin Action Items:
A complete chronological timeline of customer interactions is now viewable inside Slack's record view. This includes emails, calendar events, tasks, calls, and video meeting recordings.
Key capabilities:
App developers can now mark certain permissions as optional rather than required. This has implications for both admins and end users:

📎 Introducing Optional Scopes for Slack Apps

Slack's native Data Loss Prevention capabilities now include 20+ pre-configured rules to detect and automatically remove secrets and credentials shared in messages. This catches API keys, passwords, tokens, and other sensitive data before it spreads.
Admin Action Items:
Files shared from an external organization via Slack Connect can now be re-shared within the recipient organization. This capability is active only while the two organizations remain connected through Slack Connect.
Note: When a Slack Connect relationship is terminated, re-sharing permissions for those files are revoked.
potential_spam Anomaly in Audit LogsA new anomaly type is now generated in audit logs when a user makes a high volume of disruptive API calls. This catches patterns like excessive message sending or excessive workflow creation.

When an admin updates a workspace member's email address, the new email must now be verified by the member before they can use it to log in. This adds a layer of security to prevent unauthorized account access.
Exception: Admins can remove email addresses from deactivated accounts without requiring verification.
Org Owners and Admins will be able to make IDP groups and Admin groups visible within Slack. These groups can be used for @mentions and channel invites, making cross-team coordination significantly easier at scale.
Users will be able to create named sections in the Files tab sidebar to organize canvases, lists, and docs — similar to how channel sections work today. This brings much-needed structure to Slack's file management experience.
The channel analytics dashboard will expand to include all channels, not just org-wide channels as is currently the case. This gives admins much deeper visibility into collaboration patterns across the organization.
New Salesforce organizations (Pro, Enterprise, Unlimited editions) will automatically receive a connected Slack workspace with Salesforce Channels enabled on Sales and Service Cloud record pages.
For existing organizations: A single admin toggle will enable the new Slack button on record pages.

📎 TDX 2026 Agentforce and Slack Updates for Admins
In alignment with feature #17, new Enterprise+ organizations will receive automatic Slack workspace provisioning with Salesforce Channels pre-enabled. Existing organizations can enable the feature with a single toggle.
📎 TDX 2026 Agentforce and Slack Updates for Admins
Enterprise plans will require non-SSO invitees to verify their email access via a short-code before joining a workspace. This is already required on non-Enterprise plans and closes a gap where invitation links could be shared to individuals without access to the target email address.
